About two years had passed since Rick had returned to his world. He was now twenty and lived in an apartment in town. He woke up from a deep sleep and stretched. He yawned and scratched the back of his head. Rick climbed out of his bed and said groggily, Time to get ready for yet again another boring day. He would never quite get use to a normal life again after being a dragon. He cracked his neck and headed for the restroom to take a shower. When he was finished he put on a pair of loose blue jeans and a green T-shirt. He ate breakfast and grabbed his wallet, phone, mp3, and keys. He walked out onto the apartments porch and looked around. Despite the apartment being small it had a great view from the top of a hill. He walked to his garage and opened it, inside was forest green 1971 El Camino with two white racing stripe on the hood. He had bought it as his first car from an old man who was selling it; it was in bad shape before but with the help of his dad who was a mechanic he fixed it up. He climbed in and put on his seatbelt. He turned the car on and the engine which was a Chevy 350 rumbled to life. He revved the motor to help warm it up and back out of the garage.
The car drove fast and loud through town as he headed toward his college. He turned on the radio and the song Life is a Highway started to play. Alright. He said and started to sing along. When he got to his campus he turned the radio off and turned the car off. For the time he spent in class he daydreamed about being a dragon again. He missed Sophie, Alex, and the others.
After school he decided to go visit a friend of his. He headed outside of town and went through the desert for about ten miles until he saw a turn off that led to a large rock. He stopped the car and stuck his head out of the window. He looked around and noticed a small periscope pop up out of the ground. It looked at him and he waved at it. The periscope disappeared underground again and he waited a few seconds. He heard a crumbling sound as the rock in front of him began to rise up off the ground. It rose up on two heavy-duty steel girders. He drove under the rock when it was high enough onto a platform. The platform started to lower and the rock went back down. Ricks car began to fall underground until the lift stopped. He drove off of it down a long well lit tunnel. He them found himself come into a huge underground garage filled with strange machines and futuristic seeming robots. He drove to the side of the tunnel entrance and turned the car off. He got out and looked around. Hey Sprocket you down here?! he called. Over here! a female voice called from his left. He walked over to the source and saw two large boots sticking out from under a computer module. He smiled crookedly and hooked his foot over one boot and pulled out a girl about nineteen years old. She yelped and stared at him with an annoyed but entertained look. Hey their future girl. He said. She was like he just said from the future she was a childhood prodigy with mechanics and when she was sixteen she was building a time- machine that malfunctioned, it threw her into the past where she meet Rick. At first he didnt believe her but since he had returned from the dragon world he did. She was a tomboy due to her passion for robotics and mechanics and because of that she didnt have many friends in her time, but those she did have are still somehow able to stay in contact with her through some kind of inter-time-space communicator, they are able to send her various materials from their time through the time-machine she had built that she needs to built things and the stuff she can get from the current time she can get from her many friends throughout town.
The girl sat up off the metal floor and wiped her hands clean. Her hair was blonde but since she was working with machines it was always a little messy, she had a hat large brown newsboy cap on with a small metal plate on the front to help it keep its shape. She wore a pair of blue but oil-stained overalls. She had an emblem on her brown work shirt that looked like a crystal with two wrenches in the shape of an X behind it. The boots she wore looked very heavy but in fact were very light, she had made them herself. Her real name was Amanda but everyone she knew had given her the nickname Sprocket because of her hobby. What brings you here? she asked while pulling a small handle from her belt. She flipped a small switch on the side and a wrench head made of blue energy appeared out of the handle. She started to adjust a small nut attracted to a PDA scanner on her wrist. I just decided to see what you were up too. Rick answered. Not much. She answered, Although I have been working on a new mech-suit, you wanna see it? Sure. Rick answered. She walked past him and led him to a large platform that was slightly higher than the rest of the ground. She pushed a button on a small module and a loud warning alarm could be heard. The floor on the platform opened and Rick watched as a large mech rose up out of the ground. Whoa. Rick said as he examined it. It was a large exo-suit that was armor plated and equipped with various weapons. On its left shoulder was a plasma rifle and on the other was a Gatling-gun. Impressed? Sprocket asked. Rick nodded and looked at the left arm; its protective casing was opened revealing the wiring and components inside. The right leg was also revealed but it had a thick wire coming out of it and going into a computer. Rick was about say something but heard a loud alarm go off. Warning, warning, incoming object, origin unknown, approximate mass, 5.9736×1024 KG. What?! Sprocket yelled, That the size of a planet! she ran over to a corner of her work shop and looked through an eye piece that lead to the periscope from before. The periscope looked up into the sky and noticed in the distance a huge object that looked like it was the distance from Earth as the moon but since planets are bigger than moons it was still very far away. It is a planet! Sprocket yelled. Rick walked over and looked through, What? How is this possible? Rick asked, then he noticed it was coming out of something, a portal. No it couldnt be. He said, Hey do you have anything that can get a better look at it, a scanner of something? Maybe. Sprocket answered. He looked at the planet again and thought, Is that
the dragons planet, that portal
its magic. Found something! Sprocket called, she came back with a small rocket, This should be fast enough to get their within the hour but I dont know if Ill be able to land it, that planets moving. She looked through the periscope again and said, Toward us! This isnt good! She placed the small rocket on a platform which shot up through a tunnel that led to the surface. The platform stopped and Sprocket pushed a button. The tiny rocket rumbled to life and shot into the sky. Rick walked over to a large computer module and pressed a button, the news came on in the middle of a report, -seems to be coming out of some kind of worm hole. The reporter said as the camera looked into the sky at the planet. We arent sure how this happened, but scientists have already confirmed that the planet is on a collision course with Earth. They arent sure of what to do at to moment but we will keep in close contact with them, this is Janette Allen, now back to the studio. Rick turned the screen off and looked at Sprocket.
